Parksville CabinParksville Cabin From PorchMy buyer down in Atlanta asked me to preview a cabin for her at Parksville Lake.  No problem I thought, but this cabin can only be accessed by boat, there are no roads leading in or out.  So not having a boat, my husband and I kayaked on over.  I certainly wasn’t complaining; I’d rather be kayaking than anything else.

Parksville Lake is a hidden gem in SE Tennessee.  It is in the heart of the Cherokee National Forest, not a ritzy populated lake, nor overly developed by commercialism.  Serene and tranquil would be my definition of this place.  As for the cabin, it was quite simple and unpretentious and probably had seen better days in the past.  I can only imagine the fun times family and friends must have shared at this place.  It needs a new homeowner to love it now.  The boat dock was inviting, I couldn’t help myself but to dive off for a quick swim. You never have to worry about someone showing up uninvited, a visit to this cabin would definitely be well planned ahead.

I love my job and doing this was the icing on the cake.  The Ocoee Region, TN offers so much for recreation, including white water rafting, hiking, fishing, camping, or just simply enjoying doing nothing at all at the lake.  If you know anyone interested in purchasing or selling a home in Cleveland, TN, Ocoee, or Polk County, give me a call.  I love the many aspects of my job, in any fashion or form. Southeast Tennessee is a wonderful place to live and work with all types of properties for sale, even if you have to kayak to it.

So what is a Cowpea Festival?  The name sounds weird but it’s really another name for Crowder Peas or Black Eyed Peas.  Most don’t know that Charleston, TN was known as the pea capital of the United States.  It’s really wonderful that our community recognizes this as an authentic agri-heritage as well as a protein rich food which is a staple in the Southern diet.

The Cowpea Festival begins at 10:00 am with music entertainment, storytelling, games, air toys, and a marketplace of fine arts and crafts.  Bring a lawn chair and enjoy the activities throughout the day.  Some of the sponsors include Bush’s  Baked Beans, Whirlpool, Homestead Lawn and Tractor, Meagher and Meagher Furniture, Bradley Chamber of Commerce, Olin Chlor-Alkali, Ace Hardware, Blossman Gas, Cleveland Daily Banner, Fairfield Inn, Farm Bureau Insurance, Hampton Inn and others.

All proceeds will go towards advancing the Cherokee Heritage Museum in Charleston.  This is so incredible to have such wonderful history right at our back door.  Come and enjoy this festival with your friends and neighbors.

Buyers relocating to Bradley County, Cleveland, Charleston, and the Ocoee Region will appreciate the efforts from the Cleveland/Bradley Chamber of Commerce in promoting our agri-heritage roots and community spirit.  Cleveland, TN offers so much for homeowners and prospective buyers of all types.

For those new to the Cleveland, Tennessee area, a real treat will be to visit the Bald Headed Bistro.  I was given a gift card from one of my sellers to this wonderful restaurant, so my husband and I took full advantage of it last night. We were pleased that BHB has developed a brand new menu within the past few days.  They now are getting all of their beef from Creekstone Farms in Kentucky.  The beef is guaranteed to be all natural, no antibiotics and hormone free.  Even more valuable is the Kobe Beef; these cows are massaged and given the best of care. The Bald Headed Bistro is planning to expand their menu in the near future by purchasing fresh produce from local markets and to begin growing their own herbs.  Currently, they use fresh ramps and mushroom for their Halibut dish.Steaks include Filet Mignon, NY Strip, Prime Cowboy Ribeye, Maine Lobster Tail, Prime Bone-in Filet and North American Elk Tenderloin. From the Fired Oven:  Spinach and Artichoke Souffle, Truffled Crab Meat Macaroni and Cheese, Stuffed Portabello Mushrooms, New Orleans Baked Oyster Trio.Reasonable sides and scrumptious Desserts are reasonably priced and complement the meal nicely. The wait staff is knowledgeable and professional, and give an outstanding presentation when serving the meal.  Overall it was a very enjoyable experience.
