Parksville CabinParksville Cabin From PorchMy buyer down in Atlanta asked me to preview a cabin for her at Parksville Lake.  No problem I thought, but this cabin can only be accessed by boat, there are no roads leading in or out.  So not having a boat, my husband and I kayaked on over.  I certainly wasn’t complaining; I’d rather be kayaking than anything else.

Parksville Lake is a hidden gem in SE Tennessee.  It is in the heart of the Cherokee National Forest, not a ritzy populated lake, nor overly developed by commercialism.  Serene and tranquil would be my definition of this place.  As for the cabin, it was quite simple and unpretentious and probably had seen better days in the past.  I can only imagine the fun times family and friends must have shared at this place.  It needs a new homeowner to love it now.  The boat dock was inviting, I couldn’t help myself but to dive off for a quick swim. You never have to worry about someone showing up uninvited, a visit to this cabin would definitely be well planned ahead.

I love my job and doing this was the icing on the cake.  The Ocoee Region, TN offers so much for recreation, including white water rafting, hiking, fishing, camping, or just simply enjoying doing nothing at all at the lake.  If you know anyone interested in purchasing or selling a home in Cleveland, TN, Ocoee, or Polk County, give me a call.  I love the many aspects of my job, in any fashion or form. Southeast Tennessee is a wonderful place to live and work with all types of properties for sale, even if you have to kayak to it.

Polk County not only has beauty and adventure, it boasts some of the finest restaurants around! Perfect place to go after white water rafting or hiking.  Here are some highlights in Polk County, Tennessee

The Ocoee Dam Deli – 1223 US Hwy 64, Ocoee, TN- 423-338-8184

The food at the Ocoee Dam Deli is consistently good, and it shows by the numbers of people who make the trip from as far away as Atlanta. The wait staff is respectful, friendly, and efficient.  The menu offers a wide variety of foods, including their homemade potato chips,  their “Dam omelets, Dam wraps, and Dam burgers.” Most everything is named after a famous Dam in the US.  The menu offers a “Blue Plate” special for every day of the week. For dessert, their specialty is a warm peanut butter and chocolate brownie served or warm Blackberry Cobbler served with ice cream..  My husband and I enjoy the live Bluegrass Entertainment on Saturday evenings. It’s best to go early though as sometimes there could be a long wait. I love it especially after a day of kayaking the Hiwassee or Ocoee River.

The Whitewater Grill is a big pleasant surprise. You wouldn’t know it by the outside (used to be an old gas station), but the food is fresh and delicious. My husband’s favorite is their homemade french fries.  They are perfectly crispy on the outside.  My personal favorite is the Shepherd’s Pie, one of their specialties on Saturday nights.  The Taco Salad seems to be a favorite for many, but actually there are too many favorites to choose just one.  The wait staff are super friendly and work hard at building their business.
